Secret Garden Hotel 3

Cool cats at La Pergola

Drive several minutes up an olive tree-lined country road into the hills above Lake Garda and you’ll find Tenuta La Pergola, this small agritourism hotel (“agriturismo”) that bottles its own olive oil. In fact, because of the unique micro-climate at Lake Garda, this agriturismo is the northern-most spot in Italy that produces olive oil. We stayed in the Rondinella room and it was divine.  La Pergola stays true to catering simply to the needs of travelers by charging only 70 to 90 euros per room per night.  The proprietress has exquisite taste and the colors of each room and all pieces of furniture work perfectly together to create a picture-perfect Italian countryside oasis. Ask and she will put together a tasting of the divine local olive oil (remember to slurp!) as well as a local rose wine.
