Wishful Wednesday: Marrakesh

January 5, 2011

I’ve been following the blog My Marrakesh for over a year, as Maryam decorated and developed her boutique hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco.  The hotel is finally open and now I am dreaming of visiting Morrocco.  First I would go to Marrakesh, and stay here, at the Peacock Pavillions. Stay at Peacock Pavilions.  Sources:  My Marrakesh and Alkaline Sisters Blog.

I would love to go shopping in the Medina.

The New York Times just wrote a guide to 36 hours in Marrakesh.  Photos: Ingrid Pullar.  Source: New York Times.

I would eat this Morroccan food, whatever it is.  I would spend a day visiting the Royal Mansour and then roaming the Gardens Majorelle. . . Then maybe meet a friend to check out the latest exhibit at the Maison de la Photographie .  Maybe switch hotels for a night to swim in the beautiful pool at the Villa Rose Sultan Hotel . . .

And the New York Times “T Magazine” Style had an article on Marrakesh. Best kept secret:  I got a tip from a friend that the best experience is to drive from Marrakesh, through the mountains to the desert . . . romantic!!

From Marrakesh: You can hire a driver to take you to the coastal city of  Essaouira. Photos by Chris O’Brien, who lived in Rabat for a few summers.
